About Our Nursery
We acknowledge that we are located on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
At Prairie Hardy Nursery we specialize in premium cold hardy edible fruit and nut trees, as well as grape vines and berry bushes. You can be confident you will receive expertly grown trees from us.
We take pride in using practices to reduce our waste and recycle as much as we can. We use permaculture and old-world planting techniques, without the use of artificial chemicals. Our orchards are located on land we re-wilded with thousands of native shrubs. We care about the local fauna and flora!
Through our catalogue, you can order the tastiest varieties for your garden, orchard or food forest. Ordering takes place online between November and May: by late April or May your order will be securely mailed to your doorstep or P.O. Box.
Kristel and Kurt circa 2013
Our family farm has been in operation since 1942, and we are about a one-and-a-half hour drive northeast of Edmonton located in Two Hills County, Alberta. Kurt and Kristel are the third generation to live on this beautiful prairie landscape, we started collecting seeds and rare cultivars many moons ago with a mission to grow tasty food for our challenging climate. We are proud to bring many years of experience to you, and we are looking forward to expanding our offerings as we reap the rewards from our experimental orchards.
We are continuously expanding our catalogue, and are always interested in finding new specimens. Feel free to reach out to us if you know of an interesting tree we should propagate.
It means a lot to us when you tag us on Facebook or Instagram @prairiehardynursery with your tree planting and growth progress pictures.
