The Bei Tang Plumcot is an intriguing hybrid of the Sapalta Cherry plum and Capilano Apricot. It's characterized by a sweet, distinctive flavour and freestone flesh similar to an apricot. Its parentage of Cherry plum is recognizable in its later flowering white blossoms and its memorable pink-red fruits.
Bei Tang Plumcots average 3 to 4 cm (1.5") and ripen in late August.
Bei Tang was bred by Thean Pheh of Edmonton, Alberta. In Mandarin, Bei Tang translates to "Northern Candy."
