The Ptitsin #5 is a rare plum and our favourite from the Ptitsin series of plums. Plums are greenish to light yellow in colour and average 3 cm (1") in diameter. These are firm, freestone and surprisingly sweet.
What a nice plum and easy to eat fresh out of hand! The Ptitsin #5 is ready to harvest by early to middle of August in most years.
Growers Note: Known to be an effective pollinator for our other hybrid plums.
Growers Note: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Canada Plum or an American Plum to pollinate our Hybrid plums, as they are self-sterile. Plum trees like fertile, well-drained soil. They should be planted at least 3-4m (12-15 feet) apart, and fruit can be expected around 4 to 6 years of age.
