Red Sparkle Apple
Red Sparkle Apple
The Red Sparkle Apple has a
distinctive flavour similar to a McIntosh apple with nutty overtones. The flesh is crisp, juicy and sweetly sub-acidic which makes these apples excellent for fresh eating, cooking and juicing.
The Red Sparkle apples are green with bright red blush in colour and average 5 to 6 cm (2+") in diameter. The apples ripen between mid to late September and last up to three months in cold storage.
The demand for and success of PF 47 in Manitoba led to its launch as Red Sparkle in 1990 by the Alberta Special Crops and Horticultural Research Centre in Brooks.
